How much is too much?
It’s no secret that us Black folks like to do it BIG chile. Dressing up for our graduation, prom, birthday and other special events has always been a staple in the Black community. Each year college graduates post their graduation pictures to show the gram that they’ve made it.
Terica Williams had the gram in a frenzy when she posted her pictures. The 24-year-old posed completely nude wearing nothing but Christian Louboutin heels and a Medusa-inspired wig as she stood next to the school’s rattlesnake mascot. Williams recently graduated from Florida Agricultural And Mechanical University (FAMU) where she earned her master’s in counselor education.
“As I’m standing here with my Masters Degree at the tender age of 24, I am the living proof that clothes do not define you. Anybody who knows me knows that I’ve been dressing provocative my whole life” Williams captioned the photo.
Shortly after the photo was posted William went viral. Critics took to social media to express their opinions on the matter.
“Girl I’m here for the body positivity but why are you butt naked and bent over on our illustrious campus?” one Twitter user tweeted.
FAMU released a statement to announce that William’s is being investigated and there will now be 24/7 surveillance where the statue is located on campus to prevent more nude graduation photoshoots.
After FAMU spoke out, a rumor began circulating that the university plans to revoke Williams’ degree. This rumor has yet to be proven.
Williams is standing firm on her body positivity photoshoot. The photo is still up on her Instagram page. She recently stated “my degree was earned, not given. They cannot take it away. If you want FAMU to withhold my degree, then you’re the real snakes.”
So I have to ask ... Did Terica Williams do too much?
