Hawaii native who currently resides in South Carolina CEO Jessrey Carpenter launched Kinky Kurly in the summer of 2019 but since then she has rebranded during this time of quarantine and relaunched a new product line in June 2020. Kinky Kurly Krew is about empowering people with kinky and curly hair textures. Products are geared to helping with long term hair goals by using organic and natural ingredients that promote length retention and hair growth.
“I have always been in love with natural hair of all types and learning everything I could about other hair types. I am a huge nerd so anything I take interest in I want to learn everything I possibly can about it." The Girl Boss Says.
“I had an old roommate who had issues with her natural hair and could not figure out what worked for her hair type. I gave her a recommendation based on the issues she had with her hair and it helped. It made me feel good that I was able to help her so It inspired me to launch my hair coaching services. I created Kinky Kurly Babe and became my brand showing people the products I use and how I was able to retain length. The launch of the coaching services flopped. I need to find a way to build credibility so people would want to invest in my hair couching services. I had products that I created and used on my hair to help with some of my hair issues. I then decided the next best thing would be to offer them to my customers.”
For the remainder of 2020 what consumers can expect from Kinky Kurly is new products, workshops, and educational content.
“ My brand is not just about products but how to use them and how they fit a personal hair routine. I want to share the knowledge and make people happy with their Kinky Kurly findings.I want to share my knowledge in products all while uplifting Kinky Kuriles. I didn't have help with my hair journey; my brand is all about educating and uplifting. It took me a while to understand and truly love my coils. It's important that I share that love with my customers.”
